The area is extremely well served by schools and churches.

On Forestdale itself there are two primary schools, Forestdale School and Courtwood School with Greenvale Primary School being situated on the adjacent Selsdon Vale estate. Very close to the estate are the nearby Selsdon Primary School and Gilbert Scott Primary School.

The nearest state secondary school is Selsdon High School and other nearby secondary schools are Riddlesdown, Shirley High and Edeneham.

Opposite the estate is a tertiary / sixth form / FE college, John Ruskin College and in Croydon itself, Croydon College provides a wide variety of further and higher education courses.

There are a number of church schools in Croydon, and many private and independent prep. and secondary schools, some of high national reputation. Forestdale lies within the Church of England parish of St. Mary’s Addington. Close to the estate is Selsdon Baptist Church and Addington Methodist Church. The Salvation Army is active on the estate. The Catholic Church of St. Columba and the Church of the Latter Day Saints are both situated in nearby Selsdon. Croydon District Synagogue is situated in Elmwood Road Croydon. The Croydon Mosque and Islamic Centre is based in London Road, Thornton Heath. There is a Sikh temple in Hamworth Road, Croydon and the Muththuman Amman Hindu Temple is located at 180 – 186 Upper Tooting Road, London, SW17 7EJ.
