The Forestdale Residents Association

The FRA exists to further the development and interests of the estate and all its residents, primarily by acting as tenant and trustees of the Forestdale Forum.

It acts as a forum for residents’ views, and acts as a significant lobby group furthering the interests of Forestdale.

It acts to safeguard, monitor and maintain The Forum Community Centre as the estate’s community centre. Two members of the FRA committee act as trustees for the Forum.

It provides social and recreational opportunities for its members as well as community activities to ALL sections of the local community. Monies raised by its social activities help finance the rent, management and upkeep of The Forum Community Centre.

It publishes The Link community magazine in association with a partner – Bourne Lithographics.

Articles, letters, or any other editorial content for inclusion in Link should be sent ideally as a typed Word document and emailed to: Thelink@forestdale.info

A member of the FRA committee hosts the Forestdale Forward Group which meets three times a year. Every chair of every management company of Forestdale, or their representative, is invited to this group together with the chair(s) of the FRA, local councilors, our local police and local council officers as appropriate. This group discusses and attempts to address cross estate issues as they arise.

The FRA maintains a community website: www.forestdale.info

Residents Issues, Management Companies,

The FRA and The Forestdale Forward Group

The FRA has no jurisdiction over the running of individual or any management companies - that is always a matter for the companies and the residents of those areas.

The FRA in order to foster more “joined up” thinking across the management companies has formed the Forestdale Forward Group.

Every chair of every management company that has given its contact details – and that is almost all now – or another representative from that management company – is invited to three meetings a year held at The Forum. The purpose of these meetings is to foster discussion and information sharing on cross estate issues. The police, council officers and Margaret Mead, our local councillor, attend these meetings. This group has also created a very limited circulation contact information database that is circulated within its members only - to foster inter–company communication.

Where issues might exist between neighbouring management companies - the chairs of those companies now have the information whereby they can now contact each other direct to discuss issues of joint concern or interest. Any such joint issues are best dealt with by those chairs making contact to discuss them. The FRA’s role has been to develop and now maintain such a network not to instigate communications on specific issues.

Any resident who feels that there is an issue between two management companies is always advised to contact the chair of their management company, (and just copy the FRA in for information). Similarly if any resident would like an issue to be raised at the Forestdale Forward Group, their route to do this is also via their management company chair, not by contacting the FRA, or the Forestdale Forward Group direct.
